TNP’s new processing centre – RSPCA Freedom Food approved
TNP’s care and consideration for the welfare of its chickens and turkeys continues to the end of their lives – which is one reason the company has invested heavily in a new, purpose-built processing centre.
TNP’s new 25,000 square-foot facility, which meets all RSPCA Freedom Food standards, ensures its birds are treated as kindly as possible.
To this end, procedures are tightly controlled: CCTV cameras monitor all areas where the birds are handled, staff are continuously monitored, and an independent vet is on hand to safeguard the birds’ welfare.
In addition, we go to great lengths to reduce stress. Soothing blue light illuminates a restful dark lairage, breast-calming bars are employed, and each and every bird is calmed by hand.
In fact, no aspect of our birds’ welfare is overlooked or left to chance.
BRC Grade ‘A’ recognition
TNP’s modern processing centre is not only RSPCA Freedom Food and Organic Farmers & Growers approved but is also part of the Red Tractor Farm Assurance Poultry Scheme.
Moreover, as one of today’s most advanced specialist-poultry processing facilities, it benefits from full British Retail Consortium (BRC) Grade ‘A’ recognition.
Flexible system meets customers’ needs
TNP operates a highly flexible system. Our processing lines handle everything from 1.2kg chickens to 15kg stag turkeys, and we have the capacity to tailor our poultry products to match customers’ exact requirements.
Our packing lines offer MAP (modified air packaging) tray wrapping; leak-proof, whole-bird wrapping; and bulk gas flush or vacuum packing. We pack under customers’ own labels or brands – as well as our own – and our three-dimensional bar-coding system facilitates a 100% pick-to-order operation.
In line with our green ethos, we use environmentally friendly packaging and are constantly seeking new ways to reduce waste sent to landfill sites. As a result, we are constantly evaluating new, innovative methods and materials.
All TNP’s processing systems have been specifically designed to accommodate the wide variety of breeds – and their many shapes and sizes – associated with specialist-poultry production. In addition, our process areas are temperature controlled and automatically monitored to maintain product integrity throughout the supply chain.
This sophisticated operation, supported by our skilled technical team, is fully computerised – from quality control to system checks and analysis – to ensure on-time delivery and complete customer satisfaction.

TNP operates a programme of continuous staff development, encouraging all members of its team to undergo training and seek advancement. Both City & Guilds and industry-tailored qualifications are offered, plus regular courses on topics such as animal welfare, first aid, health and safety, fire training and negotiating.
